UCSD FINALLY BACK AT HOME FOR TWO
Having completed a season-long four-match road stretch to begin the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) portion of its 2013 schedule, UCSD (3-1-2, 2-0-2 CCAA) makes its return to the friendly confines of Triton Soccer Stadium this weekend. The Tritons play host to North Division opponents Humboldt State on Friday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m., and Sonoma State on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. Each contest will serve as the capper to doubleheaders with the 22nd-ranked UCSD men's team. Both games will have live stats. Admission to all regular-season matches at Triton Soccer Stadium is free.

FREE T-SHIRT FRIDAY
The first 500 UCSD students with valid identification who attend this Friday's doubleheader with Humboldt State at Triton Soccer Stadium will receive a free Gameday t-shirt to wear loud and wear proud at UCSD Athletics events throughout the year, courtesy of Toyota. With classes beginning Thursday for the fall quarter, Friday will provide a first look for the general UCSD student population of the 2013 Triton soccer programs. Don't miss out!

STILL ATOP THE SOUTH
Despite earning two points from an available six in its two road ties last weekend, UCSD held on to sole possession of first place atop the CCAA South Division. The Tritons and their eight points lead Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State Dominguez Hills, each on seven points. No. 11 Cal State Stanislaus and No. 16 Sonoma State remain tied for first in the North with 10 points apiece. Statistically speaking, junior All-American midfielder Cassie Callahan (Coronado/Coronado HS) is tied with four others for fifth in goals scored with four, and also tied for fifth with her 10 points. Sophomore goalkeeperKelcie Brodsky leads the league with 38 saves, and is second in save percentage (.864) and tied for fourth in goals-against average (0.93).

CALLAHAN LEADS TRITONS AGAIN
Callahan was named the Wilson/CCAA Player of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 17, after having a hand in all four Triton goals in a pair of divisional road wins. She converted her 61st-minute penalty kick for the lone score at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 13, before assisting on Izzy Pozurama's 49th-minute equalizer and then heading in both the winner and the clincher in a 3-1 defeat of Cal State L.A. on Sept. 15. Callahan has 10 points from four goals and two assists this season, and 17 goals for her career. No fewer than eight of those scores have come via header.

ROAD DOMINANCE
In holding onto draws at Chico State and Cal State San Bernardino away from home last weekend, UCSD stretched its remarkable unbeaten streak in regular-season road matches to 30. The Tritons have gone 21-0-9 in such contests since a 2-1 loss in Arcata to Humboldt State on Sept. 17, 2010. Their only defeat outside of La Jolla in all of 2012 (11-1-3) came against West Florida in the national title match in Evans, Ga. UCSD is 2-0-2 on the road thus far in 2013.

TRITON NOTES
UCSD, No. 23 a week ago, fell out of the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, released Tuesday, though the Tritons are still receiving votes ... UCSD is rated No. 5 in the West Region, down from No. 4 ... The Tritons' highest national poll position was No. 3 in the preseason edition ... UCSD has had at least seven freshmen and sophomores, with at least three true freshmen, start all six matches so far in 2013 ... The Tritons have overturned two 1-0 halftime deficits to rally and win this season, with a 2-1 home decision in the opener vs. then-21st-ranked Seattle Pacific (9/5) and a 3-1 victory at Cal State L.A. (9/15) ... True freshman Jamie Benedetto's first collegiate goal came just 24 seconds into the 1-1 result at CSUSB (9/22) ... Callahan, Pozurama and Rachel Leslie (Santee/West Hills HS), the lone senior on the 2013 roster, are Triton tri-captains.

HEAD COACH BRIAN McMANUS
Brian McManus is in his 27th season in charge of the UCSD women's soccer program. With a career record of 437-68-44, he has achieved the most wins (one more than Gabe Mejail of Merrimack College) in NCAA Division II women's soccer history. McManus has compiled the seventh-highest win percentage in NCAA women's soccer history at .836. He ranks fourth among all divisions in wins and is third in all-time win percentage in Division II history. McManus has directed UCSD to seven national championships and a record eight CCAA crowns, with the Tritons advancing to the national semifinals an incredible 15 times in his 26 years. Under his guidance, UCSD has qualified for the NCAA postseason all 13 seasons during the Division III days and all but one of 13 years (2004) since the move up to Division II, including the last eight in succession.

ABOUT THE LUMBERJACKS
Humboldt State enters the weekend at an even 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the CCAA. The Lumberjacks are coming off of a pair of narrow home losses to North Division foes, 1-0 to Cal State East Bay in double overtime last Friday night, and 2-1 to 11th-ranked Cal State Stanislaus on Sunday. HSU is led by junior Lizzie Mitchell and freshman Ariel Diehl, each currently with two goals scored. Junior Colette Behen has one goal and a team-best two assists. Redshirt freshman Kelly Lukas (1.74 GAA, 24 saves, one shutout) is the regular goalkeeper. All three HSU wins in 2013 have come on the road. Paul Karver is in his first season in charge of the Jacks.

SERIES HISTORY
UCSD leads the all-time series, 10-1-1. In a contest that did not count toward league play a year ago, the Tritons posted a 4-1 victory in Arcata. HSU's lone win was a 2-1 decision in Arcata back in 2010. UCSD has won three straight over the Jacks in La Jolla since a 1-1 tie in 2006, outscoring them, 11-1.

ABOUT THE SEAWOLVES
No. 16 Sonoma State is an unbeaten 5-0-1 overall and 3-0-1 in league play, its lone blemish this season a 2-2 home draw with No. 11 Cal State Stanislaus last Friday. Senior forward Cara Curtin, the 2012 CCAA Newcomer of the Year and reigning CCAA Player of the Week, leads the Seawolves offensively with five goals, including both strikes in the tie with the Warriors. Teammate Alicia Mertz also has five goals, with twin sister Lauren Curtin pacing the squad with 12 points from four goals and four assists. Freshman goalkeeper Allison Hadidian (27 saves, three shutouts) has allowed just the two goals against Stanislaus and boasts a 0.38 goals-against average. The Seawolves are a perfect 3-0 on the road this season, having outscored opponents, 9-0. Emiria Salzmann Dunn, the 2012 CCAA Coach of the Year, is in her third year in charge at Sonoma State. The Seawolves first play at Cal Poly Pomona on Friday night prior to their game in La Jolla Sunday.

SERIES HISTORY
UCSD has never lost to Sonoma State, having gone 15-0-3 in 18 prior meetings. These teams last matched up in the 2012 CCAA Championship final in Carson last Nov. 4, with the Tritons outlasting the Seawolves via penalty-kick tiebreaker, 4-2, after they played to a 1-1 tie through 90 minutes of regulation and 20 of overtime. Graduated Triton senior Gabi Hernandezand current Sonoma State sophomore Margi Osmundson had their goals cancel each other out 24 seconds into the second half and 43 seconds from the end of regulation, respectively. The lone regular-season meeting in 2012 ended in a scoreless draw in Rohnert Park in early October. UCSD has won at least six straight over the Seawolves in La Jolla.
