Fordham survived some early chances byRhode Island’s Marisa Ammaturo. Ammaturo had an early breakaway against Fordham goalkeeper Rachel Suther, who came up with the save. The ball was then cleared away by Casey Nowakowski before aRhode Islandplayer could find the rebound.
Fordham took that early momentum and turned it into a goal in the 37th minute. Off a corner kick, Fordham got a head pass from Liz Ker to Kelsey Dougherty Howard, who drove a header goal into the net from four yards out. It was Dougherty Howard’s first goal of the season and of her career.
Fordham then sealed the game late with a goal in the 90th minute of the foot of Annie Worden. Worden blasted a shot from 20 yards out that hit the bottom of the crossbar and went straight down over the goal line for her sixth goal of the season.
