Forrest named a Senior CLASS All-American
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After being named a First Team All-Atlantic Region selection earlier this week, Lehigh men's soccer senior Mark Forrest was named a First-Team Senior CLASS All-American by the Senior CLASS Award committee on Friday.
Earlier in the season, Forrest was named a candidate for the prestigious award before being named one of the 10 finalists for the award back in October.
He becomes just the second player in program history to be named a First Team All-American for the Senior CLASS Award, after Justin Worley in 2016.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ® , the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Forrest has had an extraordinary career for the Mountain Hawks, previously being named an NCAA All-American, First-Team All-Region twice, Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year twice and the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2017. Just having the honor of being a Senior CLASS Award finalist is an honor in and of itself.
Forrest finishes his career as both the Patriot League's and Lehigh's second leading scorer of all-time with 41 career goals and 103 career points.
Besides all of his on-field accomplishments as a co-captain on the team, Forrest has had the same impact as a leader in the community off the field.
In the past, Forrest and the Mountain Hawks traveled to local Donegan Elementary School for the Reading Rocks program. A different Lehigh Athletics team each week spent approximately one hour with the students, helping them read before playing games and other activities with the youngsters. In addition, Lehigh men's soccer, along with every Lehigh Athletics team, also take part in Adopt-A-Family where the Mountain Hawks provide a holiday for a local underprivileged family. The process included shopping for gifts, wrapping and delivering them to the families in early December. Including Lehigh fraternities, sororities and other departments, the event itself has raised up to $30,000.
It really is no secret that Forrest will leave an incredible and long-lasting legacy on the Lehigh University men's soccer program when he graduates in May.
