Staten Island, NY – Wagner women's soccer senior captain Megan Fritz (Cape Coral, FL / Mariner) was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Team on Thursday. 

The CoSIDA Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.

"We are so proud of Megan and what she has accomplished as a Wagner student-athlete," said senior associate athletic director Peg Hefferan. "This is a great way to cap off a four-year career of excellence."

First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in November.

Fritz is the team's leader in goals and points and also ranks among top scorers in the Northeast Conference (NEC). The midfielder is currently third in the NEC in goals and also sits among the top 10 in points, goals per game, and points per game.

In the classroom, the Florida native holds a 3.955 GPA in Business Administration and was named the NEC's Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2015 along with a spot on the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll (3.75 GPA or higher) in every semester on Grymes Hill.

In four seasons at Wagner, Fritz has tallied 17 goals in 71 games, along with eight assists. This season, Fritz has five goals, an assist, and 11 points. Fritz scored a goal in three of the first four games of the season. On September 29 against LIU Brooklyn on the road, Fritz found the back-of-the-net twice while adding a helper in the Green & White's 5-3 victory over the Blackbirds. 

Fritz was named NEC Rookie of the Week twice as a freshman and was a member of the NEC's All-Rookie team in her first season at Wagner. As a sophomore, she was named NEC Co-Player of the Week for the week of November 2 and earned Second-Team All-NEC honors as a junior.

The Seahawks travel to Western Pennsylvania this weekend as they take on Robert Morris on Friday at 2:00 p.m. and end the year in Loretto, PA against the Saint Francis U on Sunday at noon to close out their regular season.
