Furman Men’s Soccer Adds Six To 2015 Squad
The Furman men’s soccer program added six new players to its 2015 squad, including a 2014 high school all-american, two College Soccer News Top 150 recruits and two players who earned Best XI honors at the 2014 USYSA National Tournament, it was announced by Paladin head coach Doug Allison on Friday.
High school standouts Josiah Baker of Lawrenceville, Ga., Danny Kierath of Loganville, Ga., Braden Myus of Greenville, S.C., Dalton Souder of Lee’s Summitt, Mo., and Noah Teplitzky of Cincinnati, Ohio, signed national letters of intent this week to join the Paladin program, while Furman also announced the addition of SMU transfer Marco Carrizales. A midfielder and Dallas, Texas, native, Carrizales will have two years of eligibility at Furman.
“This is a very strong, talented recruiting class that we believe will add to our program, university, and community in very positive ways,” said Allison. “Each player brings in unique qualities and characteristics that truly represent what our soccer program is all about. We have six great young men in this class.”
Kierath and Baker were ranked No. 54 and No. 127, respectively in College Soccer News’ 2015 Top 150. Souder, a defender, participated in the 2014 High School All-America Game in Raleigh, N.C., earned NSCAA All-Midwest honors and garnered Missouri High School Defensive Player of the Year accolades in 2014. Kierath joined Souder on the USYSA National Tournament Best XI squad.
Myus, a Greenville native, was rated as a three start recruit by Top Drawer Soccer, while midfielder Noah Teplitzky played five years as a youth academy player at Liverpool FC, Bristol City and Stoke City before joining the Darlington (Ga.) Soccer Academy.
Furman is set to return 10 starters next season from a 2014 team that went 12-5-5, captured the Southern Conference Tournament championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
