Geist named to U23 Women's National Team
CORVALLIS - Oregon State women's soccer goalkeeper, Bella Geist has been invited to the USA U23 Women's National Team camp, taking place next week in Portland, Oregon. The Milwaukie native will head back to her old stomping grounds on March 25 and spend nine days with the U.S. U-23 WNT practicing and playing three games against NWSL opponents.
"I am definitely excited for the opportunity," said Geist. "I have not had experience with the national team since I was 14 years old. I am just grateful for the opportunity and it is a great transition for me since I recently decided to pursue professional soccer. This will be a good platform to start."
The junior will get an opportunity to play against the Portland Thorns FC, Chicago Red Starts and Houston Dash during the Thorns Spring Invitational from March 26-April 1 at Providence Park.
The USA opens against the Dash on Sunday, March 26 at 2:30 p.m. On Wednesday, March 29, the USA will face the Thorns at 7:30 p.m., and will close the tournament against the Red Starts on Saturday, April 1 at 5 p.m.
Geist finished her junior year for the Beavers in 2016 and has started in all 56 games in her career for the Orange and Black, while recording 12 shutouts. The junior sits third all-time at Oregon State for most saves with 297.
