The Antelopes were able to fire off 12 shots in the game but it wasn't enough as Weber State defeated GCU 1-0. GCU put up seven shots in the first half and the Lopes were tenacious on the defensive side of the ball, not allowing a single shot in the first half from Weber State's offense. Grand Canyon's best opportunity came in the 39th minute with a shot inside the box but her attempt wide of the far post. Both teams went into halftime tied at 0-0.
The Wildcats did not get their first shot attempt off until the 53rd minute in the second half. Weber State would put up nine shots in the second half and late in the game the Wildcats would score in the 82nd minute to take the late 1-0 lead. Weber State would hold onto the lead to hand Grand Canyon their first loss of the season.
The Antelopes will close out their five-match homestand to open the season with two matchups against Oakland and Alabama State beginning on Sept. 4 against Oakland.
