November 1, 2011
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women’s soccer sophomore Murphee Greeley and senior Genna Pepe have been named First Team All-Patriot League honorees, as announced by the league on Tuesday. It marks Pepe’s second straight All-League honor after cracking the Second Team a year ago, while it’s Greeley’s first.
Greeley led the Mountain Hawks in both goals (5) and points (11) this season to set career highs in each category. The Devon, Pa. native scored some big goals, including two in league play. She netted the only goal in a 1-0 win against Navy while also scoring at Patriot League Regular Season Champion Colgate. Greeley got started with a career-high two-goal effort on Sept. 16 at Quinnipiac while also scoring two days later at NJIT.
Just two years into her career, Greeley already has eight goals and five assists for 21 points in 28 games.
Pepe continued to excel on both ends of the field as a senior, scoring a pair of goals while helping anchor the defense as the left back. The Staten Island, N.Y. native scored at Quinnipiac and vs. Lafayette while proving her worth in the back and midfield as one of the Mountain Hawks’ most dangerous playmakers.
Lehigh wrapped up its season with a 6-9-2 record, 2-3-1 in Patriot League play after its game at Holy Cross on Saturday was called 30 minutes in due to snow. The Mountain Hawks lose six seniors, but return 20 underclassmen next season, including the current freshman class of nine which saw significant collegiate action.
