Hartford Shuts Out Saints
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Bridgette Alexander scored twice and Gabriela Gamory added her third goal in two matches to lead Hartford to a 3-0 shutout of Siena Women’s Soccer at Siena Field. Junior goalkeeper Taylor Dorado made five saves for the Saints.
Hartford (2-0) held an 18-6 advantage in shots and an 8-1 margin in corners in defeating Siena (1-1) in non-conference action for the fourth consecutive year.
The Hawks out-shot the Saints 11-0 and took all six corners in claiming a 2-0 lead at the half. Alexander opened the scoring in the 25th minute, and Gamory headed home a corner in the 37th minute to propel Hartford to the early two-goal cushion.
Alexander provided the final margin with her third goal of the young season in the 58th minute for the Hawks, which have outscored their first two opponents by a combined 10-0 margin on the road. Hartford defeated Delaware State 7-0 in its season opener Friday.
Six different players registered one shot apiece for Siena which suffered just its seventh non-conference home loss over the past 11 years (34-7-2).
The Saints hit the road for the first time this season with contests at UMass (Friday at 4 p.m.) and Central Connecticut (Sunday at 3 p.m.) this weekend.
