CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Goalkeeper Austin Harms made one save to earn his second shutout of the season, while Scott Prozeller scored the game’s only goal to lead the Harvard men’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Yale at Ohiri Field Saturday afternoon.  The win improves Harvard’s record to 3-3-3 overall and 1-0-0 in the Ivy League, while Yale drops to 1-8-1 and 0-1-0 in the Ancient Eight.

The first half was a back and forth affair as each team had made a number of rushes. The Crimson broke through at the 30-minute mark, as Prozeller headed the ball into the right side of the net off a cross from co-captain Jaren LaGreca.

The aggressive play from both sides led to a yellow card being issues about 70 seconds later to the Bulldog’s Chris Dennen as he took down Brian Rogers as he was streaking down the middle of the field, about 30 yards from the goal. Yale recorded eight fouls to Harvard’s seven. Both teams had two corner kick opportunities stifled by the defense of the opposing squad.

In the second half, Harvard mustered the only shot on goal of the frame, which resulted in a save by Yale’s Bobby Thalman.  The Crimson owned the lead in corner kicks for the contest, 5-4, while shots were even, 11-11.  Fouls were also even, 18-18, while the Bulldogs were given three yellow cards.

 Harvard will step out of conference play to visit Holy Cross Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.
