High Point Draws with No. 2 Georgetown, 1-1
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The High Point University men's soccer team faced No. 2 Georgetown on Sunday afternoon in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw. Tony Pineda scored the goal for the Panthers in the 63rd minute. Site: Shaw Field Score: High Point 1, No. 2 Georgetown 1 Records: High Point (1-0-1), No. 2 Georgetown (0-1-1) Neither team could find the back of the net in the first half, but HPU keeper Holden Trent made three of his four saves on the day through 45 minutes. Georgetown took the lead in the 58th minute, but High Point's Sebastian Chalbaud moved the ball up the field to Pineda who evaded a defender and found space in the top right corner of the goal to tie the match in the 63rd minute. After dropping a 2-0 match in the spring 2021 NCAA Tournament to the Hoyas, this is the first time HPU has earned a point against Georgetown. Up Next: The Panthers return to Vert Stadium on Thursday night when High Point meets Wofford. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
