Hope Women's Soccer Downs Olivet 3-0
The Hope women's soccer team inched closer to clinching a berth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament by blanking host Olivet 3-0 on Saturday.
The Flying Dutch moved within three points of securing a berth in the MIAA semifinals while improving to 12-2-1 overall and 9-2-1 in league play. They have 28 points with four league matches remaining.
Hope joins Calvin atop the MIAA standings with 28 points, but the Flying Dutch have played one fewer match than the Knights.
Against Olivet, the Flying Dutch received goals from three different players.
Senior forward Raisa Yewah of East Lansing (Okemos HS) netted her team-leading seventh goal of the season off a breakaway in the 14th minute.
Senior forward Kristina Bosch of Holland (Holland Christian HS) added her fifth goal of the season 52 seconds before halftime to extend the Flying Dutch's lead to 2-0.
Sophomore Kristin Hazlett of Bay Village, Ohio, (Bay Village HS) headed in her second goal this season from three yards out.
Hope goalie Kat Dickson of Grayslake, Ill., (Grayslake Central HS) made three saves.
The Flying Dutch return on action on Tuesday when they host Saint Mary's at 7 p.m. in the regular-season home finale.
