Hornets Win Clinches Eastern Division

Box Score The Alabama State University soccer team defeated Jackson State at the ASU Soccer Complex Sunday, clinching the Eastern Division Championship title.
"This was a big win for our program." Head coach Jodie Smith said. "Its our first Eastern Division Championship and we won it at home. This program has come a long way and its nice to have theschool give us the support that they do."
The Lady Hornets (9-6/3-0 scored their first goal off an assist from Aaliyah Lewis to Samantha Bruno in the 28th minute of the match. The Lady Hornets second goal came whenAaliyah Lewis scored in the 49th minute off an assist from Alexandria Cannon.
The Lady Tigers (3-9-1 overall/ 1-1 SWAC) scored their only goal in the 58th minute off an unassisted goal.
Goalkeeper Kylee Hathaway had 4 saves on the day. JSU outshot ASU 15-9 in the contest.
Alabama State has won their last six contest to include four at home. The Lady Hornets will look to continue this streak as they hit the road to face the Grambling State Tigers Friday, October 18 at 4 p.m. in Grambling, La. Then they will travel to Arkansas Pine-Bluff for a match on Sunday. `
