HIGH POINT, N.C. - The High Point University women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Appalachian State on Sunday night at Vert Stadium. Redshirt-freshman Kelsey Perrell scored the game winner in the 109th minute for the Panthers.
"I am very proud of the way our girls responded after a difficult game on Friday night," head coach Marty Beallsaid. "I couldn't be more proud of the physical effort we put into tonight's game against a very good and very fresh Appalachian State team. To go down 1-0 and battle back shows the resilience we have been talking about every day."
With time winding down in the second and final overtime period, junior Jacky Kessler got the ball on the left wing and dribbled up the left side and into the box.
