Cincinnati, Ohio - The Nebraska soccer team (2-4-0) picked up its second straight Sunday win with a 2-1 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats on a rainy afternoon at Gettler Stadium.

The Husker lineup saw some new faces on Sunday, as sophomore Amy Swearer started her first game in goal and played all 90 minutes, adding a career-high six saves. Swearer was inserted into the lineup due to Emma Stevens being forced to miss Sunday's game after receiving a red card in Friday's game at Baylor.

Nebraska also welcomed back junior midfielder Ari Romero, who had missed the first five games of the season while she was competing in Japan at the FIFA U-20 World Cup with the Mexican National team.

The two teams played a back-and-forth battle, as each offense got off 19 shots and the Huskers held a slim 5-to-3 advantage in corner kicks, but a pair of goals from NU's freshmen class proved to be the difference.

Freshman Alex Massey scored her first career goal just 6:42 into the game when she put a header into the back of the net following a corner kick from Caroline Gray.

The two teams then went scoreless for nearly 80 minutes, when freshman Katie Kraeutner notched her second goal of the season to put Nebraska up 2-0 at 84:29.

Krauetner's insurance goal paid off right away, as Cincinnati's Mackenzie Grause scored less than 10 seconds later to cut Nebraska's lead in half.

The Bearcats produced four more shots down the stretch, but were unable to tie the game and force overtime.

The Huskers return home to the Nebraska Soccer Field on Saturday, Sept. 8, when they host Southeast Missouri State at 1 p.m. It will be the Huskers' only game of the weekend and live stats will be available at Huskers.com.
