Indiana women announce new assistant coaches
Megan Reinhardt and Chloe McKay, both former members of the Indiana University Women’s Soccer program, were named assistant coaches today (July 23) by head coach Mick Lyon.
“Megan and Chloe have remained close to me and the program as they developed their coaching careers so I am thrilled that they have rejoined the IU women’s soccer team,” Lyon said. “They are both extremely talented, knowledgeable about the game and full of personality, which will blend into the program very nicely. I know that the team will benefit greatly from their insights and experience at IU. We are lucky to have two young and talented alums on staff who will be working tirelessly to help make this program the best in the Big Ten.”
Reinhart was a member of the IUWS program as a goalkeeper for three seasons (2005-07) and helped the Hoosiers to Sweet Sixteen appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2007. She served as the goalkeeper coach and assisted with the overall defense at the University of Indianapolis for the 2011 season.
A native of Indianapolis, Reinhardt earned four varsity letters at North Central High School and was named ICGSA First Team All-State in 2003 and Marion County Honorable Mention while leading North Central to a 21-1-1 record and a nation ranking. In club soccer, she played for the Carmel United Commotion and claimed four state titles and two region championships in addition to a pair of USYSA national finalist appearances.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications from Indiana in 2009 and was involved with the Carmel United youth soccer club.
"It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to return to my alma mater as a member of the staff,” said Reinhardt. “I am looking forward to working with Coach Lyon and Coach (Chloe) McKay as we continue to build on a program already steeped in tradition. I am thrilled to be a Hoosier once again."
McKay was a four-year letterwinner for the Hoosiers (2007-10) and finished her career with 16 assists, which is tied for third-most in program history. She was a freshman on the 2007 Sweet Sixteen team and had a team-best six assists on her way to being named to the SoccerBuzzGreat Lakes Region All-Freshman Team. For her career, she appeared in 78 games to rank in the top 10 all-time at IU and also received Academic All-Big Ten honors.
A former midfielder from Suffield, Conn., McKay served as a student assistant coach for the Hoosiers during the 2011 season while completing her degree as a Fitness Specialist with a minor in psychology.
"I would like to thank Coach Lyon for this great opportunity to continue my involvement with Indiana women's soccer,” said McKay. “I was blessed to be a part of this program for four years as a player and now I am excited to have a chance to be able to give back to the program as part of the coaching staff."
Indiana play an exhibition game against Northern Kentucky on Aug. 11 at home starting at 7:30 p.m. The regular season opener will also be at Armstrong Stadium, as the Hoosiers welcome Arkansas State on Aug. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
