Iona Men's Soccer In Regional Poll
NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The United Soccer Coaches Association announced its weekly national and regional polls on Tuesday, Oct. 30. For the second straight week, the Iona College men's soccer team is inside the top 10 of the East Region.
The Maroon & Gold are ninth in the Week 10 poll after having been voted in for the first time at No. 10 in week nine poll. Third year head coach James Hamilton led the Gaels to a 10-5-2, 6-3-1 MAAC record. Iona finished the season fourth in the MAAC standings after having been voted eighth in the 2018 Preseason Coaches' Poll.
For the first time in program history, Iona is hosting a postseason game at Mazzella Field. On Sunday, Nov. 4, the Gaels host No. 6 Rider in the MAAC Championship quarterfinals.
The Maroon & Gold have a strong 7-1-1 record at home. They have not lost since its home-opener against La Salle on Saturday, Sept. 1. Iona enters the postseason having won five straight matches.
