NEW ROCHELLE, NY - In the September 13, 2011 National Soccer Coaches' Association of America's National and Regional College Rankings, the Iona College men's soccer team has broken onto the national list at the No. 25 spot in the country.

The Gaels have also taken over first place in the North Atlantic Region as the only undefeated squad in the territory.  Iona holds a pristine 4-0 record, having won the Puma Lafayette Classic over the weekend with victories over La Salle and Mount St. Mary's.

This is the first time Iona has held the No. 1 regional ranking and its first appearance in the national top 25 since grabbing the No. 22 spot on October 28, 2009.

The Maroon & Gold took over the top spot in the region after a second place ranking in the previous week's poll.  Iona leads the four members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in the regional top ten, including Marist (4), Niagara (5), and Loyola Maryland (6).

The Gaels look to continue their winning streak when they take on Rutgers and nationally ranked St. John's, who came in at No. 14 in this week's poll, on Sep. 16th and 18th.
