IWS Honored by United Soccer Coaches
KANSAS CITY, MO – The United Soccer Coaches announced its Team Academic Award winners for the 2018-19 school year. The honor recognizes exemplary performance in the classroom by student-athletes.
Of the 14 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference teams honored, both men's and women's teams, the Iona College women's soccer program boasted the highest team grade point average. 647 women's soccer programs were honored with the Team Academic Award and the Gaels' 3.69 GPA represented the 18th highest overall team GPA across multiple divisions of college athletics.
Since 2009, the Maroon & Gold have earned the distinction nine times, and this marks the second straight season the team has been honored. In order to be recognized, a program must post a team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the academic year. The Gaels were among 258 different programs that had both their men's and women's teams honored.
