Jansa named to Academic All-League team
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two days after being named All-Patriot League for her play on the field, Lehigh women's soccer senior Annika Jansa was named to the 11-member Academic All-Patriot League team, as announced on Thursday. Jansa owns a strong 3.81 cumulative grade point average as a finance major. On the field, she served as a center back and anchor of a Mountain Hawks' defense that posted eight shutouts in 2019 (second most in the Patriot League).
Jansa has earned a spot on the Dean's List five of six semesters so far, which includes a perfect 4.0 GPA last spring. She's been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and has garnered the Faculty Athletics Council Award as well. Jansa has impressive experience in the area of finance under her belt, serving as Commodities and Global Markets Intern at Macquarie Group in New York City this past summer.
Jansa garnered All-Patriot League for the first time in her career. The two-time captain helped the Mountain Hawks record four consecutive shutouts in September, with their shutout streak eventually reaching 469:36. Jansa tallied 10 shots (three on goal) for the season. She owns 19 career points (six goals, seven assists). Jansa is also a member of the Student-Athlete Council and part of Lehigh Athletics' Flight 45 (Leadership Academy).
The Mountain Hawks ended their season 5-8-5 (3-5-1 in league play), falling just shy of their fourth straight Patriot League Tournament despite actually finishing with one more point than they did last year when they advanced to the league championship game. Two of Lehigh's three league victories came against teams who combined for the last six Patriot League Championships (Boston University and Bucknell) while the third was a 1-0 victory over Holy Cross to hand the Crusaders their first (and still only) Patriot League defeat.
