JMU Women Drop 1-0 Decision at George Mason
FAIRFAX, Va., Oct. 2, 2011 -- George Mason scored an early goal and held off James Madison for a 1-0 victory in Colonial Athletic Association women’s soccer Sunday afternoon.
JMU's record now stands at 5-5-2 overall and 2-2-0 in CAA games. The Patriots, who won their first conference match, now have a 4-4-4 overall record and a 1-1-2 league mark.
Nicole Clark scored on a shot from 20 yards out just 7:00 into the match. The goal was set up by a pass from Zania Barnum.
Each team finished with 11 shots. Mason goalkeeper Lyndse Hokanson made five saves as she recorded her first solo shutout of the year. Dukes' redshirt freshman goalkeeper Kate Courter (Lincoln Park, N.J./Immaculate Heart) made eight saves, marking the third time this season that she stopped eight or more shots in a match.
