JMU Women Lost 1-0 to Richmond
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Sept. 7, 2012 -- James Madison (2-3-0) allowed a goal with 1:19 left in regulation to fall 1-0 to Richmond (2-4-0) in women's soccer Friday afternoon in the opening game of the University of Virginia Nike Classic at Klöckner Stadium.
UR got the win after Darian Podmajerksy scored from 10 yards out in a scramble in front of the goal. Kristen Lybert was credited with the assist.
Each team took nine shots, and Dukes redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Kate Courter (Lincoln Park, N.J./Immaculate Heart) made two saves. Richmond goalkeeper Andrea Young had five stops to get the shutout.
Next up for JMU is a Sunday game vs. Virginia in the second round of the Nike Classic. The Cavaliers are ranked ninth in the NSCAA coaches poll and seventh by Soccer America.
