Kappock and Dahl Named MAAC All-Rookie
HAMDEN, CONN. - The Marist men’s soccer team’s Kevin Kappock and Erik Dahl were both named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Rookie team, as announced by the MAAC. The MAAC All-Rookie teams are selected by the conference’s 11 head coaches.
Kappock, a defenseman from Howell, N.J. appeared and started in 16 of the Red Foxes 18 games this past season and proved to be an integral part on the team’s backline. Kappock was a key contributor in the seven team shutouts the Red Foxes recorded this season and one of the main reasons the team only allowed 1.24 goals a game in non-conference and conference play combined.
Dahl, a midfielder from Helsingborgs, Sweden was a mainstay on the pitch for the Red Foxes this past season, appearing and starting in 17 of 18 games. Dahl recorded three goals and two assists for a combined eight points and was counted on for his distribution in the midfield. Dahl was also tabbed as the Red Foxes main penalty kick taker, converting on two of his three attempts.
The Red Foxes also earned six members on the MAAC All-Academic team. A total of 88 athletes comprise the 2014 MAAC Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team.
Team captains and seniors MJ Stellwag and Matty Berman, juniors Steven Arraiano, Connor Flatley and Connor Preece, and freshman Jae Wong all earned spots on this year’s All-Academic team. Stellwag, Berman, Arriano and Flatley started all 18 games for the Red Foxes this season. The six players combined for four goals, six assists and 14 points on the year.
