Katie Roberts Earns MAC Offensive POTW
CLEVELAND, OH - After scoring a pair of goals over the weekend, sophomore forward Katie Roberts earned the Mid-American Conference's Offensive Player of the Week. The weekly award was he first of her career, and the first for the Bulls this season.
Roberts led the Bulls to an undefeated week thanks to a pair of critical goals in rivalry games. On Thursday, she scored the opening and eventual game-winning goal in a win over Canisius after collecting a rebound and scoring the put back. On Sunday, she scored the team's lone goal in a 1-1 tie on the road at St. Bonaventure. After taking a pass from Taylor Thompson, Roberts squared up from the top of the box and, though it was initially deflected by Bonaventure goalie Christina Sarokon, the ball skidded over the line to open the scoring.
The Bulls play at Youngstown State Tuesday afternoon before finishing the week with a Friday road game at Bucknell and a home game Sunday against rival Niagara. The Sunday game will also be Senior Day for seven Buffalo seniors: Angela Nicholas, Shannon Algoe, Carolyn McNamara, Taylor Thompson, Katie Kerr, Shannon Fisher, and Stephanie Velez.
