Klinsmann highlights Cal's signing class
California Golden Bears head coach Kevin Grimes announced today that the program has signed six players to National Letters of Intent for their 2015 class. The Bears are coming off of another record-setting season that saw them lead the country in scoring for the first time in school history. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s round of 16 and saw three players drafted in January’s Major League Soccer SuperDraft.
“We are really excited with our 2015 recruiting class,” Grimes said. “These six players fit perfectly into our team’s style of play and our program’s culture. We expect to have more signings as well in the very near future.”
Cal signed the following new Bears: Adam Eaton (forward), Samuel Junqua (defender), Shinya Kadono (midfielder), Jonathan Klinsmann (goalkeeper), Christian Segovia (midfielder) and Noah Texter (goalkeeper). All six signees are California natives, with Junqua hailing from northern California and the five others coming from the southern portion of the state.
They will join a team who had several players depart after another fantastic season, including those selected in the MLS SuperDraft; All-Pac-12 selections William Hallisey (Sporting Kansas City), Stefano Bonomo (New York Red Bulls) and Seth Casiple (Portland Timbers).
