Lady Bulldogs Stay Flawless in MIAA; Beat Belles 4-1
ADRIAN, Mich. – For the second game in a row the Lady Bulldogs, under the guidance of head coach Ali Alamdari, handed their opponent their first loss of the season as Adrian came out victorious over MIAA foe Saint Mary's today with a score of 4-1 on Saturday (Sept. 17). Adrian improves to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while the Belles drop to 5-1 and 1-1 in league play.
Adrian controlled the ball for most of the game and got help on offense from different players on the field.
The Lady Bulldogs did not waste any time putting the first goal on the board as sophomore Sam Barker found junior Lauren Cozzi in the center of the box at the 3:32 mark. Cozzi would make a sliding shot to the left lower corner of the goal to put Adrian up 1-0. This marked Cozzi's first goal of the season.
Barker would earn her own goal at the 13:17 minute mark when she received a beautiful lob pass from Claire Phillips from 40 yards out. Barker would then connect to the right corner of the net for the eventual game-winning goal.
At 44:07, sophomore Alex Bowen made a move pass the Belles' defense and scored her first collegiate goal. Barker picked up her second assist of the day on the play.
After Saint Mary's managed to score its lone goal of the game, Cozzi would add her second of the game at 71:08 when she made an exceptional play with her feet to get through the defense and would place the ball in the left corner of net.
