Lady Cardinals fall to Eastern Michigan
Sept. 2, 2012
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Kristin Bos scored her second goal of the season, but the Lamar University women’s soccer team came up short in a 3-1 loss to Eastern Michigan on the final day of the UTSA Classic on Sunday.
Bos scored on a breakaway off a pass from Kimmy Albeno with 24:35 remaining in the game to spoil the shutout bid of Eastern Michigan’s Jenna O’Dell, but Lamar (1-4) could draw no closer.
Eastern Michigan (2-2-1) built a 2-0 lead in the first half as Cara Cutaia and Bianci Rossi scored against Lamar starter Elizabeth Silas. Sarah Deakin gave the Eagles a 3-0 lead in the second half before Bos notched her goal just 65 seconds later. Bos had team highs of four shots and three shots on goal.
Bailey Fontenot turned in a solid effort in goal in the second half, allowing one goal while making four saves. O’Dell finished with six saves for Eastern Michigan.
The Lady Cardinals open their home season at 7 p.m. Friday when they host Prairie View A&M at 7 p.m. Friday. Lamar hosts Houston Baptist at 1 p.m. Sunday. For ticket information, call (409) 880-1715, or visit LamarCardinals.com.
