Lady Hornets Win Double Overtime Thriller

The Alabama State soccer team captured its second win on the season, defeating Tennessee Tech 3-2 at Tech Soccer Field on Friday afternoon.

"The ladies played 110 hard fought minutes today, against a great team and I'm very proud that we came out with the victory," Head Coach Jodie Smith said. "They worked hard all week and it paid off for us today."

Aaliyah Lewis scored her first goal of the season and the match with an assist from Freshmen midfielder Ally Murphy in the 34th minute. Junior forward Alexandria Cannonknocked in her second of the season with an assist with Ariela Lewis shot in the box in the 76th minute. In the 106th minute Lewis scored her second goal off an assist fromKaedi Walther to seal the game.

Junior goalkeeper Kylee Hathaway had 9 key saves on the day for the Lady Hornets. The Lady Hornets were outshot 22-14 by the Golden Eagles in the match.

Alabama State (2-1) will return to action Sunday, September 1 as they come home to face Tennessee-Chattanooga at 12 p.m. (CT).
