Lady Scots Have Rough Night Against Milligan
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. -- Covenant had its first loss after a couple of big wins in the past couple of weeks Saturday evening as they fell on the road to Milligan College by a score of 3-0. The Lady Scots stuck with Milligan in the first half but were unable to keep up after the break. They allowed Milligan 3 goals and were not able to come up with any of their own.
In the first half, Covenant matched Milligan for attempts on goal at 6 each. Hannah Bales made all three saves that came her way to keep the Lady Buffaloes from scoring early on. After halftime, Milligan re-entered the field with a purpose, and Grace Shawley scored only nine minutes into the half. Two minutes later, Lauren Lameier was able to get the ball past the defense to raise their lead 2-0. Another six minutes after that, Jacklyn Orange was assisted by Lameier for Milligan’s third goal of the night. Teagan Wood took four shot attempts on goal, and Kasey Craft had three, but they were not able to find the net.
Covenant’s record is now 6-7-2 and 4-1-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. Milligan’s record is now 9-5-1.
Covenant plays its next game at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25 at home on Scotland Yard. There, the Lady Scots will face Great South conference foe Wesleyan College.
