Lady Scots Lose 1-0 to Birmingham Southern College
BIRMINGHAM -- Covenant drove to Birmingham on Monday night to play their seventh game of the season. In the 70th minute, BSC Lady Panther Bailey Kimbell was able to capitalize on her fifth shot of the game for the eventual game-winner. Covenant was not able to attempt another shot until the last minute, by Teagan Wood, which was blocked by Birmingham Southern’s defense to keep the victory.
The first half was dominated by Birmingham Southern with a total of 11 shots in the first half, compared to Covenant’s 2. This kept Hannah Bales busy, earning 6 saves from their aggressive offense. Wood and Kasey Craft had the two first half shots for Covenant.
Coming into the second half, Covenant continued to play well against the skilled Lady Panthers, keeping their opponent’s attempts on the goal to a minimum. The Lady Scots had 3 shot opportunities in the second half to keep Birmingham Southern on the defensive, but Bailey Kimbell’s goal late in the game was a back-breaker.
The Lady Scots move to 1-5-1 on the season. Their next game is at home where they will compete against Maryville College on Saturday, September 24.
