Lamar bows to Ball State
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Grace Bowman’s first half goal was the only offense the Lamar University women’s soccer team could muster in a 5-1 loss to Ball State at the Hilton Garden Inn High Altitude Tournament at Northern Arizona University on Sunday.
Bowman blasted a free kick from 25 yards out that Northern Arizona goalkeeper Aubrey Buehler couldn’t handle. Bowman’s goal at the 17:05 mark of the first half lifted Lamar into a 1-1 tie with Ball State, but Ball State took the lead for good on Jasmine Moses’ second goal of the game 5:10 later.
Ball State (3-3-1) put the game away with three second-half goals by Brigit Reder, including two just 42 seconds apart. Reder also had an assist for Ball State.
Jennifer Gibbs made nine saves for Lamar (1-3-1), which was outshot 18-7.
Lamar returns home at 7 p.m. Friday to host Southern University in a non-conference game at the Lamar Soccer Complex. For ticket information, call (409) 880-1715, or visit LamarCardinals.com.
