LAmar edged by UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Lamar women’s soccer team couldn’t fight back from an early two-goal deficit as it dropped a 2-1 decision to UC Riverside at the UC Riverside Tournament on Sunday.
Andrea Luttio gave UC Riverside (5-4-2) a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the game, converting a pass from Shelley Brumbaugh. Crystal Lopez score a little less than 18 minutes later to give the Highlanders a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Cardinals (4-6-1) got back in the game with 13:30 remaining in regulation when Kimmy Albeno headed one past UC Riverside goalkeeper Jessica White. Amber Thornhill was credited with the lone assist.
Albeno tied Kristin Bos for the team lead in goals with seven.
White staved off Lamar the rest of the way to pick up the win. Elizabeth Silas made seven saves in goal for Lamar.
