Late Goal Gives Trine Tough Loss
HOLLAND, Mich. - The Trine University women’s soccer team put up a fight against Hope College in their conference match-up, but fell on a late goal to the Flying Dutch 1-0. The loss drops the Thunder to 1-4-1 on the year and 0-2 in the MIAA.
Despite being out-shot 13-1 in the opening half, the Thunder defense held strong as the game remained scoreless through the first 45 minutes of the game.
It wasn’t until the 73rd minute that the Thunder surrendered a goal to Hope’s Amy Olsen.
Sophomore Eleni Agelopolous (Munster, Ind./Munster) and freshman Kayla Case (Olivet, Mich./Olivet) each attempted two shots and a shot on goal while sophomore Kara Franks (Smithville, Ohio/Smithville) also tallied a shot on net.
Freshman goalkeeper Sloan Davis (Olivet, Mich./Olivet) faced 33 shots on the night while making nine saves.
Trine will look to take down Albion College when they play their home opener on September 19 at 4:00 p.m.
