Late Goal Lifts Mason Over Hofstra
Fairfax, VA - Tiana Kallenberger scored the only goal of the match at 87:28 to give George Mason a 1-0 win over Hofstra Sunday afternoon. The win improves the Patriots record to 5-5-4, 2-2-2 in the CAA. Hofstra falls to 6-6 overall and 2-4 in the CAA. The loss was also the Pride's third straight.
The game was a classic defensive struggle with neither team mounting a real scoring threat. Hofstra tallied six shots, but only one on goal, while George Mason had 10 shots with just two on goal.
But the one shot on goal that counted came off the foot of Kallenberger. Jazmin Cardoso started the play with a pass to Kelly Pizzingrilli, who crossed it in front. Kallenberger slid a shot past Emily Morphitis (one save) for the game-winning goal.
Lyndse Hokanson made one save in 82:01 of action for Mason. Alex Bodenschatz played the final 7:59 without posting a save to earn the win.
Hofstra is back in action this Friday when it hosts William & Mary at 7 p.m.
