BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a tough 2-1 overtime loss at Marist, the Lehigh women's soccer team will return to action on Sunday when the Mountain Hawks travel to Binghamton. Opening kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Lehigh got off to a slow start on Tuesday, but bounced back and tied the score, eventually forcing overtime where it suffered a tough defeat just 2:02 into the extra session.

Lehigh started slowly against the Red Foxes, allowing a goal exactly seven minutes into the game. The Mountain Hawks eventually responded, especially over the final moments of the first half. Lehigh converted the game-tying goal off a corner kick set up by freshman Clare Severe. Severe took the ensuing kick, which junior Laura Courtney converted to tie the score with less than seven minutes until halftime.

An evenly-played second half saw each side fire seven shots. Again, Lehigh controlled play as the half came to a close, created three corner kicks over the final ten minutes and two in the final minute. The Mountain Hawks couldn't convert, but Marist capitalized in overtime to hand Lehigh its first loss of the season. Senior Ani Nahapetian was stellar in goal, making five saves, which wasn't even indicative of her effort. Nahapetian played very aggressively and made some strong plays off crosses.

Binghamton won its season opener last Friday, 2-1 vs. St. Bonaventure. The Bonnies scored in the first half, but Binghamton responded with two second-half goals, scored by Stephani Church in the 49th minute and Julianne Johnston in the 70th minute. Binghamton does host Canisius on Friday before welcoming Lehigh on Sunday. The Bearcats lost their leading scorer from a season ago, Katie O'Neil, who tallied 12 points (five goals, two assists). Two of the team's next three scorers return. Binghamton graduated goalkeeper Gabby Gold, who started all 19 games last year, but Katie Hatziyianis returns after playing 845:32 with a 0.96 GAA and .763 save percentage as a freshman in 2014.

The Mountain Hawks lead the all-time series against Binghamton, 4-2, including a 2-0 season-opening victory last season. Grace Correll and Darby Wiegand scored Lehigh's two goals while Ashley Blanks made six saves in the shutout. The first meeting between the Mountain Hawks and Bearcats came in 2000, also a 2-0 Lehigh victory.

The Mountain Hawks will continue their road swing next Thursday (Sept. 3) when they head to La Salle for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
