Lehigh heads to Bucknell for league showdown
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's soccer team will look to build off its 1-0 start in the Patriot League when it travels to Bucknell on Friday night. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. from Emmitt Field at Holmes Stadium. The Mountain Hawks are eyeing their first road win against rival Bucknell since October of 2007.

The Mountain Hawks are fresh off their first Patriot League win against American which also ended a two-game losing skid. It marked Lehigh's first league-opening victory since 2006. Junior Katie Centeno's goal in the 13th minute coupled with junior Ani Nahapetian's five saves was enough to propel Lehigh to a 1-0 victory. Nahapetian picked up her fifth-career shutout and second this year.
Senior Darby Wiegand and freshman phenomenon Grace Correll have led Lehigh to its 3-2-1 start. Wiegand leads the team in scoring with seven points and has tallied three goals this season. Correll trails Wiegand with six points, but leads the squad in assists with three. Nahapetian and senior Ashley Blanks have combined for three shutouts, 22 saves and a save percentage of .846 in goal.
Bucknell will head into Friday's matchup with an 0-1 record in Patriot League play and 5-5 overall record. The Bison are coming off a 7-0 loss to #8 Penn State Tuesday following a 2-1 league-opening defeat to Army. Bucknell is led by freshman Kendall Ham and senior Evelyn Nicinksi. Ham has not started a match this year, but has managed to lead the team in scoring with 10 points, including four goals. Nicinski was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team and is currently third on the team in scoring with five points in only seven games. Nicinski competed with the Polish National Team in the UEFA World Cup Qualifiers. Bucknell's last victory came over Jacksonville on Sept. 14 by a 2-1 final.
Lehigh is 10-13-2 all-time against Bucknell with its last win coming in 2012. The last four matchups have ended with a one-goal margin.
After Friday's match, the Mountain Hawks will travel to archrival Lafayette next Wednesday (Oct. 1) for another Patriot League battle. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
