Lehigh hosts Colgate Saturday night
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Riding a four-game unbeaten streak, the Lehigh women's soccer team searches for its first Patriot League victory when the Mountain Hawks host Colgate on Saturday evening. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Lehigh is coming off a scoreless tie against Holy Cross last Saturday while the Raiders defeated American in their league opener.
Final shots in Lehigh's game vs. the Crusaders Saturday were 11-10 in favor of the Mountain Hawks, but neither side could find the back of the net. It marked the first time Lehigh has been shut-out all season, but it still led to a tie and one point in the league standings. Despite the shutout, the Mountain Hawks still lead the Patriot League in goals per game (2.62). Navy is second with a 2.55 average.
Four different Lehigh players fired four shots on Saturday while senior Ani Nahapetian made three saves for her ninth-career shutout and third of the season. She now owns a 1.20 goals against average and .815 save percentage.
Colgate is 3-5-0 on the season, winning its Patriot League opener vs. American last Saturday, 3-1. The Raiders' other wins have come against Albany and Providence. Sarah Coy is tied for the team lead in scoring with three goals and six points. All three of her goals came against the Eagles. Emily Crichlow has also scored three goals while Catherine Williams and Eliza Doll each own three points via one goal and one assist apiece. Erin Cummings has played every minute in goal, owning a 1.75 GAA and .741 save percentage.
The Raiders lead the all-time series, 17-7-1 with the teams splitting the last six meetings. Last season, Lehigh played first-place Colgate down to the wire, falling 1-0 despite a 10-9 edge in shots and 5-2 advantage in shots on goal. The last two Lehigh-Colgate games at the Ulrich Sports Complex ended in 1-0 finals. The Mountain Hawks won in 2012, but the Raiders responded with a 1-0 victory in 2013.
Following Saturday's game, Lehigh will hit the road next Wednesday to face Navy. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
