BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Riding a five-game unbeaten streak and coming off a scoreless draw vs. Boston University, the Lehigh women's soccer team will remain home to host Colgate on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Mountain Hawks are coming off two straight draws, at UMBC and vs. the Terriers. Sophomore Sam Miller helped lead the charge on Saturday, making eight saves to earn Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week for the fourth time this season.
In Saturday's game, Lehigh had a glittering opportunity in the 20th minute as senior Adrian Vitello fired a shot that hit the left post and bounced across the goal line and out of harm's way. Boston University's best chance came in the 105th minute when sophomore Annika Jansa headed a Terriers' shot out of harm's way from the goal line. In each of the last two seasons, Lehigh and Boston University have played competitive games, both at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Last season, the Terriers scored the go-ahead goal with less than one minute remaining in regulation.
Miller now owns a personal shutout streak of 327:34, dating back to a first-half goal at St. John's on Sept. 10. She now has five shutouts in 10 games this season and 17 in 28 games in her career. The Mountain Hawks have scored at least one goal in seven-of-10 games this season, and in two of the games they've been shut-out, they've played to scoreless draws (vs. Monmouth and Boston University).
Colgate has won four straight games to enter Wednesday with a 5-4-0 record. In that stretch, the Raiders won at Syracuse (1-0) and Albany (2-1) while defeating Loyola (3-1) and Army (1-0) at home. Abby Sotomayor and Mara Cosentino each own a team-leading three goals and six points while Emily Crichlow also has six points. Kelly Chiavaro has seen the majority of time in goal (620:55), recording a 2.46 goals against average and 0.585 save percentage. Sophia Boggs has played 189:05, tallying a 0.48 GAA and 0.889 save percentage.
The Raiders lead the all-time series, 18-7-2 and are 3-0-1 over the last four seasons. Lehigh's last win came in 2012 via a 1-0 final. The teams first met in 1991; Colgate won the first 10 meetings before the Mountain Hawks' first win in 2001. That began a strong stretch from 2001 to 2012 when Lehigh went 7-5-1 against Colgate.
Following Wednesday's game, the Mountain Hawks head to Navy on Saturday when they travel to Navy. Opening kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
