August 23, 2012
<p>BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women’s soccer team kicks off the 2012-13 Lehigh Athletics season on Friday when the squad welcomes Seton Hall to the Ulrich Sports Complex. The teams played to a 1-1 draw in Lehigh’s opener last year. The Mountain Hawks are looking to make it back to the Patriot League Tournament, where they won their first league championship in 2010.</p>

<div>Seton Hall enters with a 2-0 record, beating Long Island (2-0) and Iona (1-0). Like last year, the meeting marks Lehigh’s season opener and the Pirates’ third game.</div>

<div>Lehigh finished last season 6-9-2, earning a big 1-0 win over Patriot League finalist Navy and tying league champ Army. The Mountain Hawks were in every game, finishing 2-3-1 in league play with every contest finishing within a single goal. Lehigh’s season ended in strange fashion, when its game at Holy Cross was called due to snow.</div>

<div>The Mountain Hawks are led by returning First Team All-Patriot League performer, and team co-captain, Murphee Greeley. Greeley owns 21 career points entering her junior season, scoring eight goals and adding five assists. Senior Isabelle Li is the team’s other captain.</div>

<div>Seton Hall is coming off a strong 11-8-3 season, advancing to the Big East Quarterfinals. The Pirates defeated St. John's the Big East Tournament before succumbing to #13 West Virginia. So far, through two games this year, the squad is led by Ashley Clarke and Stephanie Soma with three points apiece (one goal, one assist). Amie Ruhe scored the team’s other goal. Gina Maiorana has played every minute in goal, stopping the two shots sent her way. Seton Hall has allowed only 10 total shots through its two games.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Friday marks the fifth all-time between Lehigh and Seton Hall with the Pirates owning a 2-1-1 lead. The first meeting came in 1994, a 3-1 Seton Hall victory before Lehigh bounced back with a 2-0 triumph in ’95. The Pirates won in 2002 (2-0) before the 1-1 tie a season ago.</div>
