Lehigh nets 23 on PL Academic Honor Roll
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following its second straight Patriot League Tournament appearance on the field, the Lehigh women's soccer team was recognized for its success in the classroom as 23 student-athletes were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced on Wednesday. The 23 honorees mark a school record for the women's soccer program and are tied with Loyola for most in the Patriot League.
To be eligible for the Fall Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average (GPA) in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports, including men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer and volleyball.
Seniors, Amanda Stratton (3.91, bioengineering), Lexi Chang (3.65, finance) and Grace Correll (3.42, management) were each named to the honor roll for a fourth straight season. Twelve of the Mountain Hawks' 23 honorees posted a GPA of 3.70 or higher, led by Stratton's 3.91. She was followed by junior Kylie Ginsberg (3.89, industrial and systems engineering), junior Ashley Maziarz (3.89, bioengineering), sophomore Annika Jansa (3.88, business), sophomore Mary Casey (3.88, biology), sophomore Sam Miller (3.87, psychology) and sophomore Sidonie Warnecker (3.86, business).
Miller was also named to the Academic All-Patriot League team following the season while Stratton was named CoSIDA Academic All-District. For a third straight season, Stratton garnered the team's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The Mountain Hawks wrapped up the 2017 season with a 9-5-4 record following a heartbreaking Patriot League Quarterfinal defeat at Colgate in overtime. Miller tied a career-high nine saves in the contest. The 2017 season saw plenty of highlights, including a 27-day stretch without a loss (from Sept. 3 to Sept. 30), a weekend sweep of Big East opponents Villanova and St. John's and winning four-of-five games to close out the regular season. Five Mountain Hawks earned All-Patriot League recognition, most since they also had five honorees during Lehigh's 2010 league championship campaign.
