Lehigh places 20 on academic honor roll
Patriot League Release
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's soccer team continues to excel in the classroom, placing 20 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, which was announced on Thursday. The 20 honorees are tied for the most in the Patriot League. Sophomore Amanda Stratton led the way for the Mountain Hawks, tallying a perfect 4.0 GPA this fall as a Bioengineering major.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the semester of their sport's competition. All of Lehigh's honorees tallied a 3.38 GPA or higher. Sixteen of Lehigh's 20 had at least a 3.5 GPA.
Following Stratton, freshman Ashley Maziarz recorded a 3.90 this fall (Engineering), freshman Jessica Sacco had a 3.88 (Engineering) and senior Paige Elliott posted a 3.85 (Chemical Engineering). They were followed by freshman Ava Roth with a 3.75 (Arts and Sciences), sophomore Lexi Chang with a 3.68 (Business) and senior Steph Klaubert with a 3.65 (Bioengineering).
The Mountain Hawks have enjoyed tremendous success in the classroom, highlighted by Elliott who was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team and Academic All-Patriot League Team for a second straight season. In September, Lehigh received an NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 12th time in 13 seasons.
On the field, Lehigh enjoyed several highlights in 2015, which included a 3-1 record against Philadelphia area schools - beating Temple, Saint Joseph's and Penn while dropping a slim final to La Salle. The Mountain Hawks also tied MAAC Regular Season Champion Monmouth, who finished the regular season with a 13-2-2 overall record, while earning Patriot League victories over Loyola and archrival Lafayette.
