Lehigh returns home to host Navy Saturday
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's soccer team will look to snap a four-game losing skid on Saturday when it returns home to host Navy. Opening kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on the Patriot League Network. The Mountain Hawks have dropped four straight games, three coming by 1-0 finals. Each of the team's last five losses have come by a single goal, something Lehigh will hope to change on Saturday.
Lehigh stands 3-7-0 on the season, 0-3-0 in Patriot League play. Despite the tough start, the Mountain Hawks are only one game out of sixth place with two thirds of their league slate still remaining. Most recently, Lehigh fell victim to a late goal at a strong Colgate squad. For much of the game (especially in the first half), the Mountain Hawks controlled possession, but came up empty on the offensive end. The Raiders finished with a 19-12 edge in shots, but the Mountain Hawks held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Navy enters Saturday as the only 3-0 team in the Patriot League, owning a 6-3-3 overall record. On Wednesday, the Mids came back from an early 2-0 deficit to American to beat the Eagles 3-2 in overtime. The victory was Navy's fourth straight. Navy's three losses this season have come against North Carolina State, USF and Penn. Baseley McClaskey leads the Mids in goals (6), assists (4) and points (16) while Alex Jackson has eight points (four goals) and Eleanor Pratt owns six (three goals). Sydney Fortson has played all but 45 minutes in goal, tallying a 1.09 goals against average and 0.698 save percentage.
The Mids lead the all-time series, 19-4-4, winning seven straight. Lehigh's last win came in 2011 by a 1-0 final, one year after the teams tied, 1-1.
Following Saturday's game, the Mountain Hawks travel to American next Saturday (Oct. 6). Opening kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
