Lehigh squares off with Dartmouth Tuesday
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — On Tuesday, the Lehigh men's soccer team will be heading back on the road as the schedule shifts away from Patriot League play for one night. The Mountain Hawks take on Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H. at 7 p.m.
Lehigh is looking for redemption after falling to archrival Lafayette 1-0 in Easton on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks are currently 7-5-1 overall on the season with a Patriot League record of 4-1-0. Against Ivy League opponents this year, Lehigh is 0-1-1, tying Penn 0-0 in double overtime on Sept. 15 and falling to Cornell, 3-2 in OT on Sept. 25.
Prior to the loss to the Leopards, the Mountain Hawks had won their last four games.
Senior Mark Forrest and freshman Josh Luchini come into Tuesday's match as the Mountain Hawks' leading scorers with five goals each. Forrest also has five assists, while Luchini has a couple as well. Luchini leads Lehigh with 20 shots on goal to Forrest's 15, as sophomore Trevor Koski and junior Tommy Dokho come in at third on the list with six each.
Despite allowing just one goal against Lafayette on Saturday via a penalty kick, junior goalkeeper Will Smith has a goals allowed average of 0.82 through 13 games this season. Smith has recorded a Patriot League-leading seven shutouts this season.
Between the Mountain Hawks' two Ivy League opponents this season, Forrest scored a goal and Luchini scored the other vs. Cornell. Lehigh had 27 shot attempts against Penn and Cornell with 12 shots on goal at a .444 percentage. In net, Smith's GAA against the two opponents is a 1.34 mark with seven saves.
The Big Green are 4-4-4 overall this season and have had quite the eventful last six games, going 4-0-2 during that time period including a stretch of five straight overtimes, most recently defeating Penn, 3-1 on Saturday. Dartmouth is averaging a goal a game this season, and allowing 1.17. Tiger Graham leads the way with four goals on eight shots on goal, while Dawson McCartney and Justin Donowa have notched two goals each.
Big Green goalkeeper Christopher Palacios has a goals against average of 1.51 with 25 saves in six starts this season. In the other six starts, goalkeeper Henry Stusnick has a GAA of 0.60 with 21 saves.
This will be the first meeting between Dartmouth and Lehigh all-time. That leaves Harvard as the only other Ivy League team the Mountain Hawks never faced.
Tuesday's matchup will be streamed live on ESPN+ (Subscription Required) at 7 p.m.
