Lehigh travels to Navy for Saturday matchup

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a 1-1 tie vs. Colgate Wednesday night, the Lehigh women's soccer team wraps up a busy week when it heads to Navy on Saturday. Opening kickoff is set for 3 p.m. on the Patriot League Network. The Mountain Hawks are coming off three straight ties, including the last two in league play. Saturday's matchup features 5-2-4 Lehigh, riding a six-game unbeaten streak, against 10-3-0 Navy, riding a six-game winning streak.
Lehigh took a quick 1-0 lead on Wednesday as sophomore Kayla Arestivo scored just 1:12 into the contest, off a nifty feed from freshman Lisa Kestelboym. Colgate answered just over 12 minutes later off a free kick. The Mountain Hawks finished with a 23-14 edge in shots (16-7 after halftime), but couldn't beat Raiders' goalkeeper Kelly Chiavaro for a second time. Lehigh's best chance came later in the first half when, following a scramble in front, sophomore Maggie Wadsworth's shot looked ticketed for the back of the net, but Colgate defender Syd Maxson made a team save on the goal line.
The goal sophomore Sam Miller allowed snapped a personal shutout streak of exactly 341 minutes, but she has still allowed only one goal over her last 437:34. Her season goals against average is just 0.51 and save percentage is 0.878.
Navy is riding a six-game winning streak, coming off a 2-0 win at American on Wednesday. In league play, the Midshipmen have also defeated Holy Cross (2-1) and Loyola (4-0). Eleanor Pratt leads the team with eight goals and 17 points while Ash Fairow is right behind with 13 points (six goals, one assist). Four others have tallied seven points or more; as a team, Navy is scoring 2.38 goals per contest. Sydney Fortson has started every game in goal, recording a 1.10 GAA and 0.803 save percentage.
The Midshipmen have won six straight games in the all-time series to take an 18-4-4 lead, most recently defeating the Mountain Hawks 3-0 last season. The last time the teams played in Annapolis, Navy pulled out a 1-0 victory. Lehigh's last win vs. Navy came in 2011, a 1-0 home victory.
Following Saturday's game, Lehigh will return home next Saturday, Oct. 7 to host American at 1 p.m.
