Lewandowski to join WNT for upcoming matches

CHICAGO - Former Lehigh standout Gina Lewandowski '07 will join the World Cup winning United States Women's National Team for upcoming matches against Brazil, as announced on Friday. The team is continuing its Victory Tour by facing Brazil next Wednesday (Oct. 21) in Seattle and the following Sunday (Oct. 25) in Orlando. Lewandowski is currently playing for FC Bayern Munich in Germany.
The Oct. 21 match will kick off at 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. locally) on ESPN2/WatchESPN while the Oct. 25 game in Orlando is set for 2:30 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1. The matches are the United States' fifth and sixth of the tour.
Lewandowski is one of seven players who will join the entire 23-player roster that won the Women's World Cup. Lewandowski will train with the U.S. during the trip and is available to play in the matches.
A member of the recently-named Patriot League 25th Anniversary Team, Lewandowski was Lehigh's only-ever four-time first team All-Patriot League honoree. She was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2003, tallying 26 points behind 12 goals (third in program history) and two assists, and followed with the league's Offensive Player of the Year honor in both 2004 and 2005. As a sophomore, Lewandowski scored a single-season school record 15 goals, while she tallied 16 points (six goals, four assists) as a junior. Lewandowski stands second in Lehigh history in career goals (36) and points (80), while she is first in game-winning goals for a career (15) and season (6).
The 2015 Mountain Hawks return to action on Saturday when they travel to Boston University for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
