Lomsnes Named to All-Pacific Region Team
University of Wyoming freshman forward Kaitlyn Lomsnes was named to the All-Pacific Region Second Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, announced Tuesday by the organization. Lomsnes is the third Cowgirl to earn the honor in program history and the first since Allison Masumiya and Sara Paul both were selected in 2011.
"When the team does well, individuals get awards and the team did very well this last season," UW head coach Pete Cuadrado said. "Kaitlyn had a good year and it is nice for her to be recognized for it."
Lomsnes, a native of Red Deer, Alberta, earned her fourth postseason honor of 2014. In addition to the latest accolade, she was named the Mountain West's Freshman of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, and was a conference First Team selection. As a true freshman, she helped lead the Cowgirls to the second-most wins (11) in school single-season history. She ended the campaign with 24 total points, scoring 10 goals and assisting on four others. She was also a key member of a UW defense which set a school record goal-against average of just 1.38
