Louisville men announce additions for 2011

Head coach Ken Lolla announced that high school standouts Isaiah Trejo and Shaquille Hamilton have signed national letters of intent to play for the University of Louisville next season. Trejo and Hamilton join transfers Greg Cochrane and Patrick Huang from Virginia Tech as the Cardinal newcomers for 2011.
“We are very excited about this class, they have great character and are very talented student-athletes,” said head coach Ken Lolla. “They have the ability to make an impact on this program next season and we are excited about the possibilities they bring to the team.”
Trejo, a 5-11 defender, is ranked 16th in the nation and top in the region by Top Drawer Soccer and ranked 24th in the nation by College Soccer News. He plays club soccer for Cal Odyssey. He is a member U.S. Development Academy playing for the elite U17/U18 team. His U16 team was a national finalist in 2009. This fall he was invited to the U.S. Soccer U18 National Team Camp.
Hamilton, a 5-8 midfielder/forward, is ranked 17th in the region by Top Drawer Soccer. Hamilton finished his junior year with 12 goals and 10 assists for 34 points. He earned all-state honors his senior year. He earned all-county honors his junior and senior years and was named all-conference for three consecutive seasons. He was a member of the U.S. Development Academy from 2008-11. His U15/U16 team finished fourth at the nationals in 2009.
The Cardinals have also added transfers Greg Cochrane and Patrick Huang from Virginia Tech. Cochrane, a 5-8 defender/midfielder, started in all 19 games for the Hokies this fall. He finished second on the team with 11 points, which included two goals and seven assists. He led the team in assists. His freshman year he started in 16 games while playing in all 19 games. He finished his first collegiate season with one assists and was named to the Middleton Sports and Fitness Invitational All-Tournament team.
Huang, a 5-8 midfielder, played in 14 games and started in five for the Hokies last season. He scored in consecutive games against North Carolina and Duke in the fall. Huang also dished out two assists in the Hokies 4-1 win over Radford. He played club soccer for Birmingham United Soccer Association. He was a member of the Alabama ’90 State team and Region III ODP’90 team in 2006 and 2007.
