MAAC Releases Preseason Coaches' Poll
LOUDONVILLE, NY – With exactly one month to go until kickoff of an unprecedented 41st season, Siena Women’s Soccer has been predicted to finish eighth this spring according to the MAAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Four-time defending MAAC Tournament Champion Monmouth was selected as the preseason favorite, receiving nine of 11 first-place votes.
Monmouth received 118 of a possible 121 points in the polling, while Fairfield received 105 points and the other two first-place votes in being projected to finish second. Rider (90), Quinnipiac (88), and Marist (68) rounded out the top-five, while Niagara (66), Manhattan (54), Siena (48), Iona (39), Canisius (33), and Saint Peter’s (17) finished out the bottom half of the polling.
Monmouth’s Jill Conklin was tabbed the 2020-21 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, highlighting four Hawks named to the 11-member Preseason All-MAAC squad. Fairfield also registered four selections.
Siena is set to return to the field for the first time in 16 months after concluding its most recent 2019 season with a 4-11-4 mark, including a 2-6-2 MAAC ledger. The Saints welcome back six starters from their 2019 squad, while eight newcomers are set to don the Green and Gold for the first time this spring.
Siena is slated to kick off its six-match regular season consisting of conference-only contests when the Saints host Iona exactly one month from today on Tuesday, Mar. 16 at 3 p.m.
