Marist Forces Overtime, But Falls to QU
HAMDEN, Conn. - The Marist women's soccer team played its third consecutive double overtime contest, falling to Quinnipiac 2-1 on Oct. 15.
Sophomore Sarah Cannon (Wrightstown, Pa.) scored her first goal of the season with two seconds remaining in regulation to get the equalizer for the Red Foxes. The Bobcats sealed the victory in the 104th minute when junior Nicole Eriksen scored on a feed from sophomore Jessica Fontaine and freshman Carly Glaser.
Marist fired the first six shots of the match before Quinnipiac got on the board with a score from junior Amanda Barroca. The Red Foxes owned a 10-7 advantage in shots over the four periods, including a 5-3 edge in shots on goal. Freshman Brianna Robinson (Jackson, N.J.) finished with three shots.
The Red Foxes will return to Tenney Stadium to face Saint Peter's at 7 p.m. Oct. 18. The game will be streamed live on the Red Fox Network.
