Marist Men’s Soccer To Face Fairfield
POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men’s soccer team will look to maintain its flawless record in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play when it takes on Fairfield at 7 p.m. Oct. 10. The contest will be streamed live from Tenney Stadium on the Red Fox Network.
Last Time Out
Marist (5-5-1, 3-0-1 MAAC) took its first tie of the 2015 season Oct. 7, drawing Quinnipiac 1-1. Junior Dylan MacVane headed in the first shot on goal in the second half for the Red Foxes in what turned out to be the equalizer and final score of the afternoon. For the final 65:30 of the contest, sophomore goalkeeper Mark Rajovic kept the Bobcats off the scoreboard and ended the match with six saves.
Feats and Firsts
With three shutouts this season and 10 for his career, Rajovic is one away from tying Mike Valenti for the program’s all-time record. He enters the weekend tied with Joe Pilla for second place.
Rajovic has played every minute for the Red Foxes this season and owns a 1.59 goals against average alongside 57 saves. He made a pair of stops in a scoreless tie at Fairfield last season on Oct. 4.
The freshman duo of Cameron Harr and Simon Lund Jorgensen will look to build on its success, as both earned conference awards last week for the first time in their respective categories. Harr was named Player of the Week, while Jorgensen picked up Rookie of the Week. Harr enters the weekend ranked third in the nation amongst freshmen with seven goals scored.
Scouting The Stags
Fairfield (3-3-4, 2-1-0 MAAC) will be looking for its third straight win when it comes to Tenney Stadium having taken down Canisius and Iona, respectively, in 1-0 contests. The Stags’ offense has scored 12 goals this season, half of which have come from junior Dominic Marshall. Senior Matt Turner has kept Fairfield alive in contests with a .782 save percentage and 43 saves.
Looking Ahead
The Red Foxes will hit the road for another conference clash at Iona, which is slated for 7 p.m. Oct. 14.
